FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why would I want a guitar mat - so it can take a nap?
A: Well, there is that, too. Don't you have to give it a rest sometimes? Actually, the mats provide the perfect surface to let your guitar rest upon while you perform routine guitar maintenance. You do change strings sometimes, don't you?
Q: What's with all the fancy guitar pictures on the mats?
A: We know there are some people out there who have used (before our mats were available) any old thing to set their guitars upon to work on them. Such items included old carpet scraps, cardboard, and even newspapers. These materials can be damaging to a guitar, not to mention just plain ugly and boring. We strive to bring beauty and enlightenment into the lives of all guitar players by providing incredible images of instruments that inspire us to pick up our axes and rip.
Q: Do many guitar players actually work on their guitars?
A: We realize this may come as a shock, but most players do not have roadies. Falling into that category ourselves, we at Redland decided that everybody should have the proper tools to care for their own instruments by providing products that not only make guitar maintenance a pleasurable task, but protect your gear, too.
Q: How often should I change strings?
A: It depends on how hard you play that thing. Tim makes Dave change his guitar strings when Dave starts sounding worse than usual. Many players do a great deal of fine tuning and adjusting on their guitars, besides just changing the strings. Why, we even let mandolin players and the occasional banjo picker use our mats, although we discourage piano guys from trying to change their strings too often.
Q: What about cleaning and polishing my guitar?
A: Are you asking our permission? Just kidding - of course you should clean and polish your instrument regularly! Didn't your mother always tell you "Cleanliness is next to Godliness"? No? Ours did, and so we try to pass the word along and keep our moms happy. Once again, depending on the amount of use, regularly clean the whole guitar, use a nurturing lemon oil on the fretboard and any non-shiny parts, and buff that baby up with a high quality wax. Guess what? Redland offers those products too!!

Review 12/24/2008 Redland Music Products
Keeping one's instrument clean and set-up is a must for the serious musician. Some like the dirt and grime and they are no less serious however they are playing instruments with a large amount of germs. Guitar finger boards will break in with time and play, there is no need to relic a guitar if you play it all the time. If you do play all the time then you will notice grime buildup slowing down your speed. Friction is a real concern for some players. Take Zakk Wyle for example. Zakk sands the finish off the back of all his guitar necks. This helps give it a nice ball bat feel. You can grip it well and not get hung up by a thick clear coat finish.
Redland offers 90 different images on their mats. Just about every popular guitar is available. There is also a banjo, mandolin and Ukulele mat.
For the purpose of this review Redland sent AMG one of their Guitar Workstations named "Superstar." The Guitar Workstation provides a sturdy yet soft platform to change strings, clean, polish, maintain and fine tune your prized axe. Each Workstation includes Redlands Axe Mat work surface and Axe Jack neck support in their EZ Store Tube. All components made in U.S.A.
- Axe Mat size: 19" x 29" x 3/16"
- Axe Jack size: 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 4-1/2"
- EZ Store Tube Size: 24-1/4" x 4-1/2" x 4-1/2"
The Axe Jack has a nice little stash compartment on the bottom. It's a great place for a string winder. The EZ Store Tube is clear and can slide over the Axe Jack so the Axe Jack doubles as a stand for the tube. This is really handy because you can keep additional items along with the mat in the tube. It is easy to drop in the various polishes and cleaners into the center of the tube after you have coiled in the mat for storage.
The Axe Jack provides a stable, non-slip, cushioned brace for your guitar during maintenance, cleaning and string changes. The 2-1/4" wide throat can handle even the largest necks. And there is a hidden stash compartment to hold a polishing cloth, small parts or whatever you need to keep contained.

The perfect care products are together in the perfect package! Keep your axe looking and sounding its best with Redland's Music Products Guitar Care Kit. The kits Contains premium Guitar Cleaner, Guitar Lemon Oil, Guitar Wax plus a fabulous microfiber Polishing Cloth.
Redland's care products are specially formulated to be safe on vintage and new finishes. Contains no silicones, solvents, ammonia, detergents or any other hazardous or flammable materials. Non-abrasive, environmentally friendly and again all this is made in U.S.A.
Clean it like you mean it! Redland's premium Guitar Cleaner safely and effectively removes the dirt and grime that dulls your guitar's finish and tone. Use it on all guitar surfaces.
Redland's premium Lemon Oil is as pure as it gets. It's an exceptional fretboard conditioner that's also great for unfinished wood and matte finishes. Gently removes corrosion and oxidation from metal and plastic parts. And it won't leave a sticky residue.
Lasting protection and shine are just a spray and wipe away with Redland's premium Guitar Wax. It gently cleans and conditions as it revives your guitar's natural shine. Use it on all guitar surfaces. Leaves no slimy residue.
As soon as the Redland products arrived a guitar was set down onto the huge mat with the support of the axe jack for a thorough cleaning and restring. The difference in playability was undeniable and markedly improved. Honestly this is one of the must have groups of product for every musician, unless you are not into easy string changing and bacteria fighting cleaning habits.
Tip: Use the guitar cleaner first than a nurturing lemon oil on the fretboard and any non-shiny parts, and buff that baby up with the high quality wax.
